Thomas Aguinaga, Sam Gendron and Marc-Antoine Moisan are OKIES, an indie folk‑rock band from Aylmer, Quebec. They combine their eclectic individual tastes to form a unique and captivating sound that dips its toes into many different genres without ever committing to one in particular. They’ve been compared to Alt-J, Fleet Foxes, Ben Howard and Passenger, but they prefer to stay away from labels, stating simply that they play “honest music.” The group began in late 2013 as a two-piece with Thomas on drums and Marc-Antoine on guitar and vocals. Now, with just over four years of experience under their collective belts, the three 21-year-olds have played all over the National Capital Region, in such venues as Zaphod’s, Ritual Nightclub, Maverick’s, Le Petit Chicago, Le Minotaure, Raw Sugar, and the Black Sheep Inn, and even a few Montreal bars. They appeared at the 2015 and 2016 Festival de l’Outaouais Émergent and the 2017 Festival Diapason in Laval, Quebec. With two EPs and one album (released in December 2017) to their credit, OKIES are truly grateful to anyone who takes the time to read their bio.
